Chefs, restaurateurs, and your good old garden-variety foodies will be flocking to South Florida this August and September for Miami Spice. The annual food showcase, with its live entertainment, cooking competitions, and countless special offers and prizes, promises to be a smorgasbord of world-class dinning.

Sponsored by big names like MasterCard and organized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, Miami Spice has managed to round up a program of over 170 restaurants participating in this 12th annual two-month celebration. Just to name a few, MPP Brickell, The Bazaar by Jose Andres, and Bloom will all be at the convention flaunting their goods.

Restaurants are offering three-course prixe fixe lunches (priced from $19 to $23 per person) and dinners (priced from $33 to $39 per person), quite the steal when you consider that a delicious and filling meal at say Fogo de Chao Churrascaria would normally set you back about $50, $100 if you bring your better half.  On top of this deal, many other restaurants have special offers for hungry foodies. Toro Toro for example, is having a cocktail competition through July leading up to the event. Diners at can get free samples of the bartenders special creations and vote on their favorites as well as purchase full sized versions for a mere $5. Similarly, Italian restaurant Anacapri offers 50% off wines on Monday nights and a Wednesday Ladies Night, 3 glasses of prosecco per lady with purchase of one entrée!

At The Iron Fork, the kick-off event on August 1st, guests will enjoy a two-chef showdown overseen by famous Florida-based chef Allen Susser, while sampling food from over 45 restaurants and sipping on Stella Artois, Wines of Chile and BACARDÍ ® Mojito. Visitors in the VIP section will also enjoy Broadway entertainment and culinary treats provided by Norwegian Cruise Line.
